Just as Alex had feared, they didn't get the chance to leave. Because about halfway to the trailer, they were stopped and greeted by Entropy. Alex indadvertedly screamed when he saw him and Mirra elbowed him in the ribs. Then she looked at Entropy.
"What?" She asked.
"Oh, nothing." Entropy showed his cheshire grin again. "Mind if I borrow that?" He pointed to the Keystone and Mirra pulled it toward her protectively.
"Why do you even need it?" Mirra asked. She looked like she was mentally asking Entropy a different question.
"Oh, girl," Entropy said. "I'm just making the story interesting." He smacked her with his tail, causing her to drop the keystone, and he quickly picked it up and swallowed it. Mirra looked annoyed and Alex looked at Entropy in horror.
"Seriously?" She asked.
"Do you want it back?" Entropy asked, still grinning.
"As a matter of fact, yes, we kind of need that."
"Then why don't you come get it?"
Mirra didn't look surprised at his answer. Alex still looked horrified.
"He's going to eat you? AGAIN?" He asked. Mirra nodded and stepped forward.
"How else am I gonna get the keystone back?"
"By asking nicely?" Alex suggested. She shook her head. Then Entropy promptly grabbed her in his mouth and swallowed her whole.
A few seconds later, Alex heard her muffled voice and Entropy spat her out. She hit a tree and moaned, then stood up and held up the keystone victoriously before collapsing.
"That was fun." Entropy snickered. He slithered off and disappeared as if nothing had happened. Alex ran over to Mirra and helped her get up.
"Are you ok?" Alex asked. He noticed that she was surprisingly dry. "And why are you not slimy at all?"
"It's complicated." She groaned. "Seriously though, Entropy's a jerk."
"So now can we go home?" he asked.
"Yeah. Here." She touched the keystone to his chest. Nothing happened. "Stupid thing, work!" She tried again. She tried several times, getting more frustrated with each try.
"What the heck!?" she asked. "It should be charged!" She stopped as if she realized something, then turned to talk to Alex. She didn't though, and instead noticed something on the steps of her trailer. She ran past Alex and he followed her.
"What?" He asked. She stopped next to the object and kneeled down. It looked like some sort of futuristic device. The was a note next to it, which Mirra quickly read and shoved into her pocket before Alex had time to look at it.
"What is it?" Alex asked. He picked the strange object up. Mirra snatched it out of his hand.
"It's an energy monitor-thing. It will tell us how charged the Keystone is." She answered.
"And where exactly did this come from?"
"Someone I met yesterday when you were in the other room." She glared at him. "It's not important." She pointed the object at the Keystone and turned it on. The reading came up as 16.2%.
"Crap." She said. "He drained it. Entropy drained most of the energy out of it. It'll take a while to recharge."
"SEE?" Alex said angrily. "This is what I wanted to avoid! If you had just let us leave first thing, this wouldn't have happened!"
"Alex, stop."
"No! See, this is your fault! Like Entropy said; had you not sent me here in the first place, none of this would have happened!"
They walked into the Mystery Shack, still arguing. Stan wasn't around, but the twins were watching them.
"Not to mention you basically messed up the story line!" Alex continued. Dipper cleared his throat and they both stopped.
"Hey, Mirra, did I tell you the first thing Alex said when he woke up this morning?" Dipper asked.
"No." She replied.
"'Oh, Ariel. I had the weirdest dream last night.'" Dipper said mockingly. Mirra glared at Alex.
"Seriously?" Mirra asked. "Really? That is literally the most cliche'd thing ever!"
"Oh, so Dipper's on your side then!? Yeah, that's cool!" The arguing had started again. "And Gideon was gonna like torture me or something!" Alex continued. "This is my show! And now it's my life too! And what right do you have to send people into worlds they made up anyway!?"
Mirra looked ready to kill him but her expression suddenly softened.
"Nevermind. My life has just been too weird." She looked at Dipper. "Sorry about arguing so much."
"It's fine." Dipper said. He laughed. "I was almost about to ask if everyone from where you guys are from argue so much."
Mirra smiled.
